Project Summary
One of our more recent projects was the involvement in the Exelby Services; Project Coneygarth.
This has been one of our largest jobs to date, and our team was appointed as the mechanical and electrical consultants for the development, and the BREEAM (Building Research Environmental Assessment Method) assessors.
The Coneygarth site was designed to replace the previous Londonderry site, to which access had become limited since the A1 gained motorway status.
Because of this, developers realised there was a significant lack of fuelling services in this area, particularly for HGV’s. The new site is open 24/7 and its facilities include a MACE store, fuel station, lorry park and a Subway store.
The BREEAM is internationally recognised as a process for determining the sustainability benchmark for buildings of equal type. The assessment is becoming a normal part of the planning process in a number of new builds, and Project Coneygarth was no exception. Practical completion of the assessment scored the development with a ‘Very Good’ rating. The rating gave the developers a chance to see how the project will perform in terms of sustainability.
Combining Expertise & Sustainability
We developed full mechanical and electrical designs for this project, including the lighting, power and heating. We also ensured that the building’s systems would work efficiently whilst adhering to standard mechanical, electrical and building regulations.
